Chef Casey and Chef Gustavo first crossed paths at Le Cirque NYC in 2011, where their friendship was born. Since then, they have remained best friends, sharing their passion for food and culinary expertise.

Chef Gustavo Gutierrez found himself out of work with the fine dining scene closed and stuck at home during a global pandemic, not to mention with a pregnant wife. Toying around with empanadas, he started making dough from scratch and using techniques he learned throughout his career, he knew he was on to something. After selling these handmade one of a kind empanadas from the garage he decided to open the now infamous Cubita Café in Nutley, NJ.

Chef Casey Colaneri's impressive career spans the globe, from his culinary adventures in Italy, Ireland and Spain to his tenure at the renowned Le Cirque NYC, where he formed a lifelong friendship with Gutierrez. In addition to serving as a Personal Chef and consultant for New Jersey's elite. Chef Casey has even graced the screens of Food Network's Supermarket Stakeout, demonstrating his culinary prowess to a wider audience. His journey reflects a love for food that transcends borders and screens.
